CLAY CONSTRUCTION WORKSHOP IN MOROCCO

In February, Susanne Scharabi had the opportunity to take part in a practical seminar at the European Training Centre for Earth Construction in Morocco. The practical construction course took place in the impressive setting of Kasbah Tamnougalt, one of the oldest earthen castles in the country. Traditional earth construction techniques such as rammed earth and earth plaster were not only taught on site, but also put into practice.

Farid Scharabi took part in a three-day seminar at the same educational centre in August on the topic of “Straw clay made easy”, where he gained further theoretical and practical knowledge. Our goal is to make greater use of clay as a sustainable building material in our projects. The first opportunity to do so is the integrated wood and clay construction of the new community centre in Eberswalde.
